So you think you want to join the Sea Cadets? This describes some of the pre-qualifications to help you decide. This just gives you some of the info you need, but most importantly, we need to meet you and have you come visit on a drill weekend. In the mean time, look here to get an idea about what it takes to join.

Naval Sea Cadet Qualifications for Enrollment
  • Must be a U. S. Citizen
  • 13 years old and not yet have reached their 18th birthday (Sea Cadets)
  • 10 to 13 years old (Navy League Cadets)
  • Must complete a medical examination by a school or personal physician
  • Must be enrolled in school/home schooled and have/maintain a satisfactory scholastic standing
  • Must have a good moral character and be free of felony conviction
  • Must be single and remain single to be enrolled

Nondiscrimination. It is the policy of the Naval Sea Cadet Corp (NSCC) that no applicant meeting NSCC’s minimum age requirement will be denied membership in NSCC on the basis of race, sex, age, color, religion, national origin, or disability. 

Enrollment Fee:  $210.  Each following year the re-enrollment fee is currently $85
Breakdown of costs:
Annual NHQ Enrollment Fee $60.00 (includes liability insurance)
Uniform Rental Fee $125.00 (You must return the uniforms when the cadet leaves the program.)
Unit Enrollment Fee $25.00
Please submit the total fee of $210 with the application. Payment options may be available.

Enrollment Process:
If you meet the qualifications, here is what you need to do next: 
  • Parents/guardian and the cadet need to come visit us at the next drill weekend.
    • Parents or Guardians must accompany their child to the first drill to talk our staff.
  • Bring a copy of their Health Insurance Card.
  • Enrollment packets are available at the drill location, or you can choose to download and print the forms yourself. If you print out your own forms, be sure that two-paged forms are printed in duplex (two-sided) method. Note: All forms can be filled out online and printed. You can also print them out and fill them in manually.  You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader or Microsoft Word to read and fill in the forms.
