We meet one weekend each month for a "drill." It lasts all day Saturday and all day Sunday. - Each day we do PT (Physical Training) with stuff like stretching, running, sit-ups, push-ups and other toning exercises.
- Usually we do Martial Arts training. One of our cadets is a black-belt.
- We'll do Military Drill, learning how to march and follow military commands.
- The rest of the time we are doing classroom or hands-on training, often with the Coast Guard.
- Each drill weekend helps you get ready in one way or another for Advanced Trainings, which are the best part of Sea Cadets.
- We eat lunch on the Coast Guard Station mess deck.
- Cadets and adults are authorized to wear official Navy uniforms, properly modified to show you are in Sea Cadets.
We also do field trips like: - Visiting the American Victory Ship in Tampa
- Do rifle, pistol, and shotgun marksmanship training.
- Do swim qualifications and learn how to use clothing for flotation.
- Go on Field Exercises camping out, learning how to patrol.
- Do small boat operations
The best part of Sea Cadets is the Advanced Training opportunities. - Go to a Navy Style boot camp for 2 weeks.
- See if you are tough enough to be a SEAL.
- Work on Aircraft
